The code of conduct helps recreational pilots apply appropriate standards when flying in the Netherlands, especially near protected nature areas, built-up areas, gatherings and events. Using this code and applying good airmanship are important for public support for aviation. Read more
13 December 2025: Halon Fire Extinguishers: What happens after 31 December 2025?
From 1 January 2026, Halon fire extinguishers will no longer be permitted in European aviation, and the EU Commission has confirmed that no further exemptions will be granted. Unfortunately, the only approved alternative, Halotron, is currently not available in sufficient quantities and is costly. Read more
24 June 2025: Mike ARR and Romeo DEP at EHRD suspended
Following the Dutch Safety Board report about a near collision in the Rotterdam CTR, LVNL decided to suspend the MIKE arrival and ROMEO departure routes for runway 06 from 1 July 2025. Safety is always the priority, and crossing routes at the same altitude deserve attention. KNVvL regrets that GA stakeholders were not involved more closely in the route design and solution process.
14 May 2025: Less room for General Aviation requires better flight preparation
Dutch airspace is complex and manoeuvring room for General Aviation is limited. A large part of the airspace is not accessible to GA, and closer to the ground the environment is becoming more crowded due to developments such as wind farms. Thorough flight preparation is therefore increasingly important. Read more.
2 April 2025: Warning: use of EHR66 and TGB NLR Test Centre High west of Vollenhove
Please be aware of the increased risk when flying in and around EHR66 and TGB NLR Test Centre High. These special airspaces in the Netherlands are used for test flights with large and heavy drones, including unmanned fixed-wing drones up to 110 kg. Always check current NOTAMs and plan carefully.

The Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate, together with KNVvL and AOPA, launched a poster campaign about the importance of proper flight preparation. Read more.
21 November 2024: ILT and LVNL exchange airspace infringement data
The Inspectorate and Air Traffic Control the Netherlands will share records of aircraft involved in Dutch airspace infringements. The aim is to reduce the high number of infringements by general aviation. Read more.
