FAQ
Q: What makes Aeroclub Maritime different from other flying clubs?
A: Our club stands out because of its modern equipment and friendly atmosphere.
Q: Why are flying costs lower at your club?
A: We offer the option to participate in our Aquila aircraft. Participation is not mandatory, but with participation you fly at roughly half the normal aircraft rental cost. The break-even point is around 10 hours per year.
Q: Who benefits most from participation?
A: It is especially interesting for students. During training you fly at least 45 hours, usually spread over about two years. The difference is immediately clear.
Q: I want to fly, but I do not have the budget to fly every week.
A: Welcome to the club. That applies to many of us. Members often make day trips together and share the cost, making longer flights much more affordable.
Q: Do I need a lot of expensive equipment?
A: No. A good headset is useful, but you can also use club equipment. A sturdy bag is handy and a chart is required. Today there are good and affordable tablet applications. A good pair of sunglasses is also important.
Q: Are all the pre-flight calculations difficult?
A: No. During training you learn exactly what to do, and by practising often it becomes routine.
Q: Is the theory difficult?
A: Anyone who is willing to study can learn what is needed for the exams. It is not advanced mathematics, and subjects that interest you are usually easier to absorb.
Q: Everyone knows Cessna aircraft. Why do you fly Aquilas?
A: The Aquila is a modern German aircraft with a glass cockpit and efficient handling. It is light, fuel-efficient and very pleasant to fly. It responds precisely and also looks great.
Q: Texel is nearby and has an airfield. Can you simply fly there?
A: Yes. We visit Texel often and have a good relationship with the airfield. It has a beautiful grass runway and a restaurant where you can enjoy a coffee with a view of your aircraft before flying back. During training you will make many landings there.
Q: What is a nice day trip to make with my partner?
A: There are many options: Texel, Ameland, airfields just across the German border, London, the Channel Islands or lunch in Spa in Belgium. There are also plenty of closer destinations in the Netherlands.
Q: I am curious. What should I do next?
A: Many people first want to experience what flying is really like. That is why we offer introductory flights at a reduced rate. You are welcomed by an enthusiastic club member who takes you flying and answers your questions. Afterwards, you can decide whether you want to continue.
Q: How can I become a member?
A: Complete the membership form on our website. We will then contact you.
Q: Who can become a member of Aeroclub Maritime?
A: In principle, anyone can become a member of Aeroclub Maritime.
