The LAPL is the licence for discovering the airspace in small aircraft.

The LAPL (Light Aircraft Pilot Licence) is intended for pilots of small aircraft.
With the LAPL licence you may carry up to 3 non-commercial passengers, such as friends, family or flying companions, on flights within Europe.
The requirements for the LAPL are lighter than for the PPL, including a lighter medical examination and fewer required flight hours before the licence.
In addition to LAPL training, Aeroclub Maritime also offers training for the PPL (valid worldwide) and the Night Qualification.
Why choose a LAPL?
A LAPL is a practical choice if you mainly want to fly light aircraft recreationally within Europe. The training is more compact than PPL, while still teaching you to fly independently, carry passengers and prepare flights safely. For many students, LAPL is an accessible route to a pilot licence.
At Aeroclub Maritime you learn to fly from Lelystad Airport, a controlled airport where you gain experience with radio communication, air traffic control and clear procedures from the start. Because you also become part of a flying club, you can ask questions outside the lessons, share experience and continue flying actively after your licence.
What does LAPL training cost?
LAPL has fewer required flight hours than PPL, but the final cost depends on your preparation, planning, theory, exams, medical examination and practical progress. The flight training and aircraft rental costs page lists the current rates for membership, aircraft rental, instruction and participation.
If you are still choosing between LAPL and PPL, start with a trial flying lesson in Lelystad or discuss your plans with an instructor. That helps you decide which licence fits how and where you want to fly.
