Flight school for PPL and LAPL in Lelystad

If you want to learn to fly from Lelystad Airport, Aeroclub Maritime offers complete, practical flight training. Aeroclub Maritime is a flying club with an approved DTO flight school in Lelystad for PPL, LAPL and trial flying lessons, guiding students step by step from the first introduction to the pilot licence.
Learn to fly in Lelystad
Learning to fly in Lelystad means training at a controlled airport from the start, with radio communication, air traffic control and clear operational procedures. That makes the training practical: you learn not only to control the aircraft, but also how to prepare safely, communicate and make decisions as a pilot.
Aeroclub Maritime combines flight training with the character of a flying club in Lelystad. You take lessons with instructors from our DTO, while also meeting members who already have flying experience. This helps you build experience in an active club environment, from your first flying lesson or trial lesson in Lelystad through to your pilot licence.
Approved flight training at Lelystad Airport
Aeroclub Maritime provides training through an approved Declared Training Organisation (DTO NL-DTO-012). You train from Lelystad Airport, use modern Aquila A210 training aircraft and can contact the club directly by phone, email or at the clubhouse on Maraboeweg 10 in Lelystad. That combination of approved training, a clear home base and an active association makes it clear who is behind the flight school.
Training consists of theory and practice. In the theory phase you cover aviation knowledge, performance, navigation, meteorology, human factors, radiotelephony and air law. The practical lessons connect directly to that knowledge, so you immediately apply what you learn in the cockpit.
You can train with us for two licences:
- LAPL: valid within Europe, with at least 35 flight hours before the practical exam.
- PPL: internationally recognised, with at least 45 flight hours and additional navigation and cross-country experience.
The exact duration of the training differs per student. It depends on your planning, preparation and how quickly you acquire new skills. Together with your instructor you build up in a structured way towards important milestones such as the first solo and ultimately the practical exam.
For flight lessons we use modern two-seat Aquila A210 training aircraft. You train in a professional environment at a controlled airport, gaining experience with radio communication, air traffic control and operational procedures from the beginning.
If you first want to discover whether flying suits you, a trial flying lesson in Lelystad is the logical first step before starting PPL or LAPL training. You fly with an instructor, receive an explanation of the basics of flying and experience directly how a lesson works in practice.
From trial lesson to licence
Many students start with a trial flying lesson in Lelystad or with the starter package. After that, you decide together with an instructor whether LAPL or PPL best fits your plans. If you first want to review the rates, the flight training and aircraft rental costs page explains the current membership, aircraft rental and instruction rates.
