The flying association

In the recent past, our association provided instruction for Navy personnel. That instruction task no longer exists, but Aeroclub Maritime still maintains warm ties with defence and with the civil authorities at De Kooy. Aeroclub Maritime is now based at Lelystad Airport. Our flying club is a real club, which means that, in addition to flying together, members are expected to contribute a certain amount of hands-on activity. Examples include moving aircraft in and out of the hangar, carrying out daily inspections, cleaning windscreens, refuelling, occasionally helping clean the aircraft and assisting one another with flight and navigation preparation.
Naturally, various activities are organised by and for members: day trips to airfields at home and abroad, navigation flights and open days. We also organise themed evenings where specialists explain subjects related to flying. The social side is just as typical of a club. Meetings in the clubhouse with a view of the runway are always enjoyable, and the club rooms are daily meeting places for members.
There is never a shortage of flying stories.
